Total in South Sudan

With production potential of around 350,000 barrels per day, South Sudan is a major oil producer in sub-Saharan Africa today.

Several Asian oil companies, mostly Asian have been producing in the country since the late 1990's. Total has been the operator of Block B since 1980, but operations were suspended in 1985 due to the struggle that led to South Sudan's independence in 2011.Background

A Long-Term Commitment      Protecting the Environment

Future exploration of Block B will focus in particular on the Jonglei Basin, a huge, flat expanse of flood plains.
